St. Catharines: The Foster Festival announces casting for the world premiere of “Time & Tide” by Jody Stevens McClusky

Friday, September 6, 2024

In accordance with our mandate, The Foster Festival initiated our new play development program this past year, developing new Canadian scripts by playwrights other than the company’s namesake. After reading 72 submissions of new plays from across the country, the Festival selected three new works that were featured at our first annual Fostered Playwrights Festival. Time & Tide by Nova Scotian playwright, Jody Stevens McCluskey, is our first official selection from our Playwrights Festival to receive a full, world premiere production at The Foster Festival this fall.

Thank you to Cellar Door Wine Experience for supporting Canadian playwrights through our Play Development Program.

This project is also supported by the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario).

THE STORY:

A small Newfoundland fishing village has been home to the Murphys for generations. They have been born and bred, they have loved and lost, and, of course, they have always fished on the island since the first Murphy arrived. Rose couldn’t wait to leave for the big city, but finds herself drawn back to her home and her family as she struggles to make her mark on the world. Time & Tide explores the push and pull of love and the challenge of finding your place with and without family. All told through the keen lens of the beloved Newfoundland sense of humour.

PLEASE NOTE

This show contains mature themes and strong language that may not be suitable for children under the age of 13.

Parental guidance is advised.
