4th Line Theatre is excited to announce the world premiere of the Christmas-themed production The Verandah Society: Up to Snow Good, created by and starring Megan Murphy and Kate Suhr, and directed by Managing Artistic Director Kim Blackwell.

Murphy and Suhr created the first version of the show in the summer of 2020 to connect with and perform for people during the pandemic. They traveled around the region to people’s porches, verandahs and backyards, performing their captivating show for intimate gatherings. Then, in 2021, they developed The Verandah Society in Residence at 4th Line Theatre, dramaturged by renowned performer and director Linda Kash, which premiered at the Winslow Farm under the direction of Blackwell. The Verandah Society melds music with personal stories of the region. The show is equal parts entertaining, poignant and funny. Since 2020, they have created three other versions of the show and delighted audiences across the region.

And now, The Verandah Society is back and they’re “Up to Snow Good” this holiday season! Cozy up with Kate Suhr and Meg Murphy and enjoy festive stories and songs that will be sure to get you in the holiday spirit. There will be heartwarming and humorous original storytelling, foot tapping music with inspiring vocals, surprise special guests, and that magical feeling that happens when people gather in a theatre to share and be entertained. Bring your family and friends and join us on The Verandah this holiday season.

“I can’t think of a more perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit than to come with family and friends to experience Megan and Kate’s heart-warming work,” explains Managing Artistic Director Blackwell. “Every time I experience the truth and love in The Verandah Society, I am changed a bit more.”

The production will have an eight performance run, including matinee and evening performances, beginning on December 11th and closing on December 15th. All shows will be held at the Peterborough Theatre Guild at 364 Rogers Street in Peterborough.

NOTE: The play will not performed at the Winslow Farm.

Tickets for the eight performances go on sale on Monday, August 19th and are only available to purchase through 4th Line Theatre’s box office and website. Purchase tickets in advance to avoid disappointment, as shows often sell out well in advance of performance dates.
