Toronto: “Speaking of Hilary” runs at the Red Sandcastle Theatre June 5-9

Wednesday, May 29, 2024

Speaking of Hilary is an original one-act play premiering at Toronto’s Red Sandcastle Theatre on June 5th and running until June 9th, 2024. The play is written and directed by Elias Campbell (Just Cuddle, World Away) and stars Hannah Whitmore (Hannah Moscovitch’s In This World, Murdoch Mysteries) and Jensen Porter (Gay Mean Girls, American Gods).

Following a traumatic incident, Hilary becomes concerned with health issues to the point of obsession, seeking reassurance from her closest friend.

“The play explores the interplay between illness, anxiety and depression, and the challenging role of the caretaker in relationships. I was inter ested in a particular kind of obsession I’ve observed at various times––in myself and in others––but I also wanted to explore the concept of reassurance, and the point at which the instinct to comfort actually becomes counterproductive, or even harmful,” says writer Elias Campbell.

The play is being produced by Moving In Theatre in association with Hannah Whitmore and Jensen Porter.
