London, UK: Canadian musical “The Story of My Life” will have its UK premiere on September 13, 2024

Stage Door Theatre will present the U.K. premiere of the 2006 Canadian musical The Story of My Life September 4-October 19 with an official opening September 13.

Robert McWhir will direct the two-person musical at the Drury Lane pub theatre. Casting will be announced at a later time.

Featuring a score by Neil Bartram and a book by Brian Hill, The Story of My Life follows two childhood friends from age six to 35. The musical finds best-selling author Thomas Weaver, who has come back to his hometown to deliver the eulogy for his childhood friend, Alvin Kelby, but finds himself scrambling for something to say. His reality is shattered by the memory of Alvin, who takes him deep into Thomas’ mind cluttered with a lifetime of stories.

Aaron Clingham is the musical director.

The Story of My Life played ran November 2-December 6, 2006, produced by Canadian Stage at the Berkeley Street Theatre Downstairs starring Brent Carver and Jeffrey Kuhn.

The Story of My Life played 19 previews and five regular performances at Broadway's Booth Theatre in February 2009. The cast featured Will Chase and Malcolm Gets under the direction of Richard Maltby, Jr. It was subsequently nominated for four Drama Desk Awards.
